Learning the French language in a French school can be an exciting experience but at the same time it may be a challenging one too.

Even if you enrol for French language classes, there are a few things to keep in mind that will enable you to get the most out of your lessons. Here are 10 effective guidelines that one should follow to ensure you get the most out of your French lessons:
Tip #1: Always make notes
Do carry a pen and a notebook with you at all times. Taking notes is essential as some of the tips that your instructor gives may come in handy when revising for the DELF exams and may not be available in your study guides. Another advantage of taking notes would be ensuring that you note down critical information that will help you memorize and recall what was learnt in the lessons when you look at the information later on.

Tip #2: Pay attention
There are many people who take a class in a French school but are distracted during lessons. You have to be present not only physically but mentally too. It is necessary that you give you full attention to the teacher during class and give your best to grasp what is being taught.

Tip #3: Clarify the doubts
Getting your doubts clarified straightaway is always a good thing to do. This will ensure your problems do not snowball and overwhelm you, killing your interest in learning French.

Tip #4: Communicate
Learn to speak French accurately with the proper phonetics in mind. Do participate actively in class.
Tip #5: Join communities
Whether you are enrolled in an online class or learning in a French school, it is advisable to join a community of similar interests and participate in post class French activities so as to practise the language.
Tip #6: Always revise
Making notes will only help if you revise them regularly. The amount of time you can look at the study materials is limited during lessons and thus, do take out some time from your schedule and go through your notes.

Tip #7: Test yourself
Whether you are taking French lessons in Singapore or anywhere else in the world, it is necessary you test yourself from time to time to monitor your progress.
Tip #8: Incorporating French into your daily life
Do try to learn to speak French at any occasion available. For instance, listen to French music, read the news in French and look at the translation etc. This way you will learn French at a quicker pace.

Tip #9: Have patience
You should always be patient, learning a new language will always be difficult at first. It’ll be much easier to advance your knowledge after you have grasped the basics.
Tip #10: Expose your mind
Do expose yourself to other resources apart from your class material, you can also learn to speak French fast by reading other supplementary materials, listening to audio books, playing games on French apps etc.
